Luyang oversees the company's strategic planning and development, international expansion, strategic partnership, and day-to-day operations. Since she joined forces with Josh, The Baer Faxt team has expanded the company’s representation from New York to Europe and Asia, introduced a new consulting division The Baer Faxt Solutions, and launched two popular additions to the Baer Faxt’s news format: The Baer Faxt Podcast and The Baer Faxt Live.
Luyang brings over two decades of leadership experience in strategic planning, business development, and multicultural communication across diverse industries, spanning Asia, the United States, and Europe. Luyang began her career as a journalist in China at 16, and by 19, she had become the youngest-ever evening business news anchor on China Central Television (CCTV). After earning a business degree from the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School, she worked as a marketing associate in a publishing company in Silicon Valley before she returned to CCTV and launched her own business talk show as Managing Editor and Host. Her professional journey includes roles in marketing and publishing in Silicon Valley, international investment banking in China, and a prominent European strategic consulting firm.
Leaving her journalism career, Luyang continued her journey in the corporate world. She was first recruited by CICC, the first international investment banking firm in China, and then as Head of Asia marketing of a prominent European strategic consulting firm. In 2012, she joined Christie's and played a key role in Christie's expansion into mainland China as Vice President and a member of the firm's Asia management team.
Before joining The Baer Faxt, Luyang ran her own consulting business in Germany, working with art world clients from Beijing, Hong Kong, London, and New York. Her clients included Phillips, Hauser & Wirth, and UCCA, and artists Zeng Fanzhi and Jia Aili.
Fun fact: In her adulthood, Luyang has spent almost one decade each living in Asia, the US, and Europe. While she is fluent in English and Mandarin, she's pretty good with German and is now learning Finnish by reading classic Moomin books with her daughter. Her favorite quote is when Moomintroll tells Hemulen, "You aren't a collector any more, you're only an owner, and that isn't nearly so much fun." Her favorite phrase in German is, "Steter Tropfen hölt den Stein," or the Chinese equivalent, "水滴石穿"; in English, "Persistent effort overcomes any difficulty." You can spot her carrying her Leica camera cycling in the city and the forest along the Baltic Sea.
